Exterior Car Detailing in Hewlett, NY
Most paint damage on an ordinary car is not caused by the road. It is caused by washing. Automatic tunnels drag the same brushes across thousands of cars, and a single-bucket sponge wash at home picks up grit off the lower panels and grinds it into the doors on the next pass. That is where swirl marks come from.

Overview
Exterior Car Detailing done in the right order
Exterior detailing here means a hand wash done in a way that does not damage the finish, followed by decontamination and a layer of protection. We are cleaning and protecting paint, not correcting it, and we are straight about that distinction.
How the job runs
Our exterior car detailing process
Four stages, in this order every time, because each one depends on the one before it.
Pre-rinse and wheels first
A thorough rinse lifts loose grit before anything touches the paint, and wheels and arches are done first with separate tools so brake dust never travels onto the bodywork.
Two-bucket hand wash
One bucket of clean solution, one to rinse the mitt, with grit guards in both. It sounds fussy and it is the single biggest factor in whether a wash adds swirl marks or not.
Decontamination
Bonded contamination that soap cannot lift comes off next, which is what leaves paint feeling glass-smooth rather than slightly rough. This step also matters because protection will not bond properly over a contaminated surface.
Dry and protect
Dried with clean microfibre rather than left to air-spot, then a wax or sealant applied to give the paint a sacrificial layer that takes the abuse instead of the clearcoat.

Local notes
Exterior Car Detailing on Long Island
Salt is the local enemy. Cars driven through a Nassau County winter pick it up along the lower doors, sills and arches, and it stays there quietly corroding until somebody washes it off properly. Cars kept near the water in Hewlett Harbor, Island Park or Atlantic Beach have the same problem year-round from airborne salt, plus a mineral film from bay spray that ordinary shampoo leaves behind. In spring, the pollen that blankets everything from Malverne to Baldwin is mildly acidic and worth removing rather than leaving to bake on.
We are based at 1534 Broadway in Hewlett and the service is fully mobile, so the car never leaves your driveway. Call (516) 894-2876 and we will tell you honestly what the schedule looks like.

Questions
Exterior Car Detailing — FAQs
Do you use an automatic car wash brush?
Never. Everything is done by hand with clean microfibre mitts and a two-bucket method. Automatic tunnel brushes are the most common cause of the fine swirl marks you see in direct sunlight, and no amount of wax afterwards hides them.
How long does the wax or sealant last?
A carnauba wax typically gives six to eight weeks of real protection, while a synthetic sealant runs four to six months. Cars parked outside near the water are at the shorter end. We will tell you which suits your situation instead of defaulting to the more expensive one.
Can you remove swirl marks and scratches?
No, and I would rather say so plainly. Removing swirls means machine paint correction, which cuts a fraction of clearcoat away, and it is a service we do not currently offer. Washing and waxing will make paint look markedly better but it fills and hides rather than removes.
Do you need access to water and power?
Water helps and a standard outdoor tap is plenty. We carry our own supply when a tap is not available, which is common for apartment and co-op parking in Long Beach or Cedarhurst. Tell us the situation when you book and we plan around it.
Is it worth detailing the exterior in winter?
Yes, arguably more than in summer. Salt does its damage between December and March, and a wash that clears the sills, arches and lower panels plus a sealant layer is the cheapest corrosion prevention available. We work through the winter on dry days.
